Late Again, Kanye? Sorry Mom.
Still not finished? Kanye West pushed back the release of his album DONDA...again.
Mr. West once again has us sitting tight. He first promised to release DONDA in July 2020 but left us hanging for a whole damn year. Again, this year he promised the release on July 23rd, we waited but we were let down. Various sources later promised the release date would be August 6th... though we’re left waiting again.
We all know by now that Kanye has a habit of postponing albums. His last album Jesus Is King missed two release dates and we we’re left on hold for months! He’s known for editing his music right until the last minute. Looks like a lot of time and energy is being put into this album... we’re expecting a lot from you Kanye.
Incase you’re wondering what DONDA means... The album was named after Kanye’s late mother, who passed away in 2007. She raised Kanye on her own and believed in his music career right from the start. Kanye’s song Hey Mama is (you guessed it) about his mother.
DONDA is also the name of Mr. West’s creative content agency. Which involves making music videos, album art and other fun creative stuff. Kanye has designed some awesome album covers for Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.
Social media posts show Playboi Carti and 2 Chainz recording vocals for DONDA just the day before it was first to be released... I wouldn’t be expecting it to be finished any time soon. It also looked like Jay-Z was recording his verse only 4 hours before the first release date.
Multiple sources have said that Post Malone, The Weeknd and Travis Scott will feature on DONDA. It looks like a lot of insane artists will be making an appearance on the album.
Kanye West has been ‘finishing’ the album on an Apple Music livestream. And by that, I mean anything BUT finishing it. He was seen lifting weights, doing push-ups, sleeping and even shaving the head of his music engineer. He’s really got us watching him sleep and we’re loving every second of it.
Some fans aren’t as amused by Kanye's games... but this is just Kanye being Kanye. And I’m sure we all enjoy watching him get up to this crazy stuff, but I think it’s about time for the album now!
